Self Rescue for Climbers

2 Day - £250 per person
5 Day - £600 per person

A 2 day or 5 day course designed to teach you the skills necessary to rescue yourself or a climbing partner.

As a climber, it's important to have the skills to get yourself out of problematic situations, especially if you climb on multi pitch mountain crags or sea cliffs.

Having self rescue skills will boost your confidence when climbing in these places, and also give you a greater understanding of the rope systems we rely on.

Prior Experience

Aimed at those with some prior outdoor lead climbing experience.

Min 1:2, max 1:4

Minimum of 2 participants required, please get in touch for individual booking.

Course Detail

Over 2 or 5 days, you will receive coaching on placing gear and building belays to build on your previous experience. We will then introduce rescue techniques and strategies.

This includes the following:

Ascending and Descending

Abseiling/Lowering past knots

Escaping the system

Counter balance abseil

Traverse rescues

2 Day courses are typically more workshop based, where we focus on the core skills and their application on single pitch routes and smaller outcrops. The 5 day course allows more time to climb on multi pitch routes to put the skills learnt into context and practice.

Given the specific nature of this course, it is important for us to discuss your requirements before booking, so please contact me to book.
